If you’ve started 2023 as a newly engaged couple, firstly, congratulations! There’s no better gift than the celebration of love and the excitement of planning a wedding together, but it can also be a little overwhelming. With so much to think about and start getting in to place ahead of your Big Day, it can be tricky to know where to start. Take a look at our blog highlighting wedding trends for 2023…

The wedding team at Rutland Hall Hotel are keen to offer their expertise and insights. From intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, their experience of indoor and outdoor ceremonies will be invaluable in helping guide your own dream wedding.

With a new year comes new trends, and new members of the team at Rutland Hall Hotel! Here, Wedding & Events Co-Ordinator, Grace White, talks you through her top five wedding trends for 2023 to help spark some ideas and inspiration…

Outdoor Celebrations

During the pandemic, getting married outside was one of the only options couples had. Now, despite everything being back to normal, it’s still something a lot of brides and grooms are opting for, allowing them the flexibility to tailor their day to their needs more than ever before. At Rutland Hall Hotel, we have the most stunning outdoor set-up at our pagoda – offering sweeping views across our landscaped gardens and across Rutland Water, it’s a magical place to say, ‘I do’.

Bold Colours

In recent years, we’ve seen the more muted, classic and neutral tones at the front and centre of a lot of weddings, including as whites, creams, greens and blush pinks. For 2023, we’re definitely seeing a lot more colour – bright, vibrant hues across everything from the floral arrangements and décor, to the wedding party outfits. At Rutland Hall, we have a variety of different suppliers that we work with and can recommend to help transform our event spaces in to the wedding of your dreams – including all the colours of the rainbow, if that’s what your heart desires!

Extended Wedding Parties

The Wedding Weekend is another trend coming in strong for 2023 and at Rutland Hall Hotel, we’re the perfect location to make this a reality for couples! Nestled in the heart of Rutland, on the shores of Rutland Water, our resort is the ideal place for your wedding party to settle for a few days. With a variety of accommodation from luxury suites and cosy doubles, to lodges, an on-site restaurant, golf course, spa treatment rooms and a pool, there’s plenty on offer for your guests to enjoy ahead of your big day. Why not continue the celebrations the day after, too, with a hearty breakfast and a walk around Rutland Water, or a spot of shopping in nearby Stamford, Oakham or Uppingham?

Non-Alcoholic Cocktails & Drinks

With more people (particularly the younger generation) choosing to go alcohol-free, it’s a great opportunity to mix things up a little at your wedding party. There are so many options now for alcohol-free drinks including mocktails, Nosecco, 0% beer, clean gin and, of course, a huge variety of soft drinks. Why not set up a Dry Bar, or offer bespoke mocktail and cocktail options for your guests? G&T stations have also been a popular trend and now there are a number of alcohol free (or ‘clean’) gins available, there’s no need for your alcohol free (or designated driver) guests to miss out!

Going Green Wedding Trends for 2023

Conversations around sustainability are becoming more prevalent both amongst wedding suppliers and couples – this is a trend that is set to continue in to 2023 and beyond. Upcycling is a great way to incorporate your ‘something old’ into the big day and there are a huge variety of eco-friendly wedding favours that can be gifted to your guests. At Rutland Hall, we actively encourage use of bio-degradable confetti (or, even better, using dried flowers as a confetti alternative.) There’s also a growing trend for brides to hire rather than buy their wedding dress, which is budget as well as eco-friendly (perhaps avoid red wine and coffee on the day, though!)

Rutland Hall Hotel will be hosting a Wedding Showcase Event on Sunday 22nd January. Click here to find out more and book your space.
