Dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures take on so many roles in our lives. From taxi driver to handyman, cash machine to giver of the best advice (and hugs!), they always offer their limitless knowledge generously – with a dad joke thrown in, for good measure. But, what do you get the man who has everything?

We’ve listed five of the best experiences to show your love and appreciation for all that they do this Father’s Day – the Rutland way.

Sunday Lunch at Blossoms Restaurant

The way to any man’s heart is through his stomach and there’s no better Sunday afternoon activity than tucking into a delicious roast dinner with the family. Celebrate Father’s Day at Rutland Hall Hotel and their special Father’s Day Sunday Lunch, in the stunning Blossoms Restaurant, overlooking Rutland Water. There are two and three course menu options available, complete with a free pint on arrival for all dads and grandads!

Blossoms reopened after refurbishment earlier this year, offering refined international cuisine under new head chef, Sumit Chakrabarty. After working in Michelin-star establishments with some of the best chefs in the world, Sumit has reinvigorated the food offering at Rutland Hall Hotel, making it one of the best places to eat in Rutland.

Aqua Park Rutland

Inside every father is a big kid waiting to escape – and a trip to Aqua Park Rutland is the perfect way for Dad to let out his inner child for the day!

Aqua Park Rutland is the UK’s most exciting Aqua Park course that features climbing walls, trampolines and slides – all on Rutland Water! Adrenalin-loving dads can take on the Rutland Mammoth – the UK’s tallest obstacle; choose to plummet from the giant slides or experience free fall with its staggering 5-meter drop!

BBQ Masterclass at Hoggy’s Grill

When BBQ season comes around, Dads come into their element. Whether he’s King of the Grill or an absolute beginner, there’s no better place to hone the art of cooking over flames than on the banks of Rutland Water at Hoggy’s Grill – and, whatsmore, he can learn from a sporting legend.

Owned and run by ex-England international cricketer, Matthew Hoggard MBE, Hoggy’s Grill offers a variety of interactive, lip-smacking cookery classes – from traditional barbecue fare in their burger classes to flexible three course menus including tomahawk steaks, beer can chicken, seafood feasts and veggie extravaganzas.

Vouchers are available to buy online.

Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting at the Grainstore Brewery

If your Dad is a fan of a traditional English Ale, he will love Father’s Day at the Grainstore Brewery. Founded in 1995, The Grainstore Brewery specialises in traditional ales, supplying hundreds of free trade outlets as well as wholesalers and beer festivals nationwide.

On Sunday 19 June*, Dads can visit the brewery, have an opportunity to pour their own pints and embark on a tour of the brewery with head brewer Rory Gibson to learn about the brewing process of Grainstore Beers.

*Tours can also be bought as vouchers to use on a future date.

Be a Train Driver at Rocks by Rail

Tucked away in Cottesmore, Rocks by Rail is a Living Ironstone Museum – an outdoor adventure, cast in an ironstone quarry. A wonderful day out for the whole family, the museum covers 19 acres of reclaimed quarry, railway tracks and nature trails.

Their Father’s Day open day is a great chance to experience the awesome industrial landscape on offer, take a trip on the Rutlander train or relive his childhood dream of becoming a train driver by jumping aboard and being a ‘Diesel Driver for a Fiver!’
