Dog-Friendly Lodge, Staycations, Short Breaks

Here at Rutland Hall Hotel, we understand the important role four-legged friends play in our lives – they encourage us to get outside every day for walks, provide cuddles when we’re feeling sad, make us laugh and are always happy to see us! They’re part of the family, so why should they miss out on a weekend away?

With space to play, beautiful grounds to explore and long countryside walks on the doorstep, we always love welcoming your canine companions to the resort and have a number of dog-friendly rooms available – they’ll even get their own bed, a toy and bowls to make their stay more comfortable!

Looking to take your four-legged friend to explore more of Rutland whilst you’re staying with us? Here’s a few ideas of where to go and what to do nearby…

Walkies!

Rutland is England’s most rural county, so the opportunities to explore its beautiful surroundings on foot are plentiful. There’s a designated dog walking area at Sykes Lane, Rutland Water and you can also take a stroll along the rest of the paths around the water, as long as you keep them on lead.

The parklands at both Burghley House and Grimsthorpe Castle are also dog-friendly (again, as long as you keep your furry friend on a lead.) There’s also a wealth of other walking and trail routes available to download from the Discover Rutland website.

Time to Eat

There are plenty of dog-friendly places that you can make a pitstop to refuel on your adventures in Rutland. From local pubs to cosy cafes – there’s a reason it’s known as “The County of Good Taste”!

If you’d prefer to relax and stay on-site, Blossoms Restaurant at Rutland Hall Hotel also welcomes your four-legged friend and has a delicious array of food on offer.

Treats & Culture

Looking to pamper your pooch and treat them to a new toy? There are some great independent pet shops in Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham, perfectly placed for a spot of retail therapy!

Fancy a spot of culture? Dogs are allowed into the Allman Gallery at Victoria Hall, Oakham, as well as in the grounds of Oakham Castle and Rockingham Castle.
