We’ve got big things planned for our midlands hotel… but we’re already being recognised for the amazing work we’ve done so far!

This month, we’re delighted to announce that we’re finalists in not one, not two, but three prestigious awards!

In this blog, discover details of our amazing achievements here at Rutland Hotel & Spa:

Midlands Hotel: Finalists in Three Categories

The Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards are highly anticipated within the industry, recognising businesses for all manner of achievements.

Our luxury resort hotel, nestled on the idyllic shores of Rutland Water, has been named as a finalist in three categories of the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards 2023 — and we couldn’t be more proud.

Our trio of shortlistings at the prestigious industry awards include the ‘Hotel of the Year’ and ‘Hotel Bar’ categories, while our talented Executive Head Chef, Sumit Chakrabarty, is in the running for ‘Chef of the Year’.

Now coming into its sixth year, the awards celebrate heroes of hospitality within the Midlands, profiling the very best in the business. The aim is to ultimately enhance the region’s reputation as a food, drink and hospitality destination of choice, both nationally and internationally.

The awards also look to support local businesses navigating the current economic climate.

Finalists in the ‘Hotel of the Year’ Category

As a finalist for the ‘Hotel of the Year’ category, we offer a destination for all occasions, from special events through to short breaks, holidays, and weekends away.

Overlooking Rutland Water, our modern suites and lodges offer stunning views, while there are plenty of activities to enjoy  — including scenic routes for walking, running, cycling, crazy golf, pitch and putt, and events spaces for corporate use.

Our Managing Director here at Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa, Jo White, said: “Everyone is so proud of what we have achieved over the last year with the refurbishments, so these finalist nominations are a testament to all the team’s hard work and dedication.

“It would be such a great honour to bring the win back to Rutland, as the smallest county in the country, and shine the light on our hidden gem of a hotel.”

Meet Sumit Chakrabarty

We reopened our bar and restaurant last year, following a multi-million pound refurbishment.

Blossoms Restaurant and Bar has since established itself as one of the region’s key gastronomic experiences under the stewardship of our Executive Head Chef, Sumit Chakrabarty

Through training and mentoring his team, Sumit has used his wealth of experience to create unique menus with an international flare – positioning our restaurant as a major destination on the Rutland culinary map.

Sumit said: “As Executive Head Chef, last year was very tough to deal with, due to the volatile market for ever-increasing food costs and scarcity of chefs.

“However, together with my great team, we have created a menu and gastronomic experience that is proving to be ever so popular. I am already so proud of our success.

“With our one year anniversary coming up in July, winning this award would be the cherry on top of a very successful cake!”

A Promising Year Ahead for Our Midlands Hotel

We’ve already enjoyed success on the awards circuit in recent years, having claimed first place at the 2022 Mercury Business Awards for ‘Large Business of the Year’ and ‘Team of the Year’, as well as being named in The Times ‘Top 100 Places to Stay for 2023’

Now, we’re looking ahead to what promises to be another exciting year here at our midlands hotel!

Our team has worked incredibly hard to make our family-orientated resort the wonderful place it is today, and we’re proud to be working together towards a bigger and better future.

Public voting for the awards is open from now until midnight on Sunday 11th June, where people can vote in multiple categories. If you’ve stayed or dined with us in recent months and would like to vote, you can do so by visiting the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards website.
